Bergen features a temperate oceanic climate with relatively mild winters and cool summers. Despite being so far north, Bergen's weather is relatively mild. It rains a lot here (Annual average is 2,250 mm - 89 inches) and heavy rain can happen at any time of the year. The high precipitation is often used in the marketing of the city, and postcards sold in the city feature the phenomenon. The locals are very fond of beating records. It was an exciting local news when it rained 85 consecutive days between October and January during the winter 2006-2007. Statistics for October:
The local currency is the Norwegian Crown (NOK). Exchange rates as of June 2010 are: 1 €= 7,72 NOK; 1 USD = 6,34 NOK; 1 CHF = 5,51 NOK; 1 GBP = 9,05 NOK |
