- SPARC Session at the 34th COSPAR Scientific Assembly
A session devoted to SPARC issues will take place at the 34th COSPAR Scientific Assembly, to be held 10-19 October 2002, in Houston Texas, USA. The session is:
A1.1/C2.7 Climate Change Processes in the Stratosphere and at the Tropopause.
This session will focus on measurements, data analysis, modeling and theory related to processes near the tropopause and in the stratosphere that impact the global climate system. Particular attention will be paid to 1) results or expected results from instruments that have been recently launched or that will be launched in the reasonably near future; 2) results and capabilities of new analysis methods, including data assimilation; and 3) models indicating the roles of stratospheric processes in climate, with their implications for space measurements. Studies of transports across the tropopause, and other internal atmospheric barriers are also solicited.
The original of the abstract should be sent to the Copernicus Gesellschaft, with a copy to the Main Scientific Organizer, Dr.J.C. Gille.
Addresses and further information can be found at http://www.copernicus.org/COSPAR/COSPAR.html
- The Sixth European Symposium on Stratospheric Ozone will be held at Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden from 2nd to 6th September 2002.
As in the previous workshops at Schliersee and St Jean de Luz, this symposium will be a major opportunity for the presentation and discussion of results from the European Union research programme on stratospheric ozone. Any questions to Rebecca Penkett at general@ozone-sec.ch.cam.ac.uk or see http://www.ozone-sec.ch.cam.ac.uk/
- Announcing a New Journal: Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics
Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics (ACP) is dedicated to the publication and discussion of studies of the atmosphere and the underlying chemical and physical processes. It is published by the European Geophysical Society, with an international Editorial and Advisory Board.
An innovative two-stage publication process ensures rapid peer-reviewed publication of papers, initially on the Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics Discussions (ACPD) web site. To foster scientific discussion, reviewer comments, short comments by other interested parties, and author replies appear alongside the original paper. Fully revised papers are published in ACP in both on-line and print versions.
On-line registration and subscription to ACP is free. It is financed on a non-profit basis by modest page charges. Colour graphics, supplementary material, and animations can be included at no extra cost.
ACP has been launched on 3 September 2001. To submit, view, or comment on papers, and for further information, please visit the web site: http://www.atmos-chem-phys.org
