I dreamt I was in India

I woke up this morning and realized that somehow it's all of a sudden July, and that (1) I missed my annual Ph.D. committee meeting which was supposed to happen in May (this is ...bad), (2) my July rent cheque bounced and my bank account is almost empty (this also is not good), (3) my cat doubled in size (mostly length, not girth, so that's ok), and (4) I know longer know who the hell I am, what the hell I want, and, really, what the hell is going on (this could be bad or good?).

And I had the strangest dream, ever. I dreamt that I spent the last 2 months in Calcutta, doing things like eating lunch with street people, clipping toenails of mentally-ill women, getting harassed by a hash seller, getting food poisoning, watching Bollywood movies, joking about with nuns, feeding handicapped orphans, picking fights with jewelry vendors, dodging renegade rickshaws... I even glimpsed the faraway peak of Mt Everest (Possibly. It was ...questionable.). See, it's crazy, because I've got a pretty busy life in Toronto, and I'd have to be insane to skip out on 2 months of it to live in a city where begging is a job and garbage lines every street. Plus, we all know that I'm not exactly the "roughing it" type, and mostly I make fun of hippies and activists. So I'd have to be really insane to actually pay $3,000 to do this.

Oh man... I think it really happened.
