Good clean fun

"I gotta take my longjohns off, this game is making me sweat!"

My friend Danielle the photographer (not Danielle the runner) said this on Friday, and I think it sums up a Canadian girly party well. Heh!

Danielle had her bachelorette party, or as the Canadians say, stagette (wtf?...I am still such a stranger in a strange land) on Friday night, in the fabulous suburb known as the 'Ga. It was good times, and after a week of working hard, it was nice to get a bit sloshed with a group of hilarious girls. Danielle is a champ because she has zero qualms about befriending random people that she meets, so her circle of friends is incredibly varied and extremely fun. I think to some extent D has made it her life's mission to exterminate cliques and cattiness, and she's doing a pretty good job at it. She also has a better maid of honor than I have even been to anyone in my long career as a bridesmaid, who earned my respect by not only serving tiny spring rolls and mini pizzas, but also whipped up a chocolate fondue and paired it with champagne, which was amaaaaaazing. One of the guests, Laura, was also a knitter, and she had actually read this blog, which made me feel like a million bucks.

I am really looking forward to this wedding, not in a small part because the guest list is long and cool. I'm also told that I've been put at one of three "singles tables", and I'm amazed that there are actually THREE singles tables, and not one "rejects who couldn't find a date" table. Apparently the tables have been meticulously chosen to maximize interesting conversation, so I'm very curious to find out who's been picked to bask in the intellectual glow of me. Haha...poor sods.

In other news, I broke another DPN on Friday, when I carelessly threw my turtleneck-shrug-in-progress into an already-full backpack. D'Oh! I am the Shiva of knitting needles. They will all be destroyed.

Shame, I really liked those needles, too. I'm turning 26 next week, which I am very ho-hum about. Its neither exciting nor terrifying this year.
Much more exciting is that I'm currently scheming about going on a trip to India in May, to work at an orphanage in Calcutta. I've yet to gather the guts to run this by my supervisor, however.

That is all I have to say today.
