Movie Night

"...the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness.  He went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah, "The voice of one crying out in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.  Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways made smooth; and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.'"
Luke 3: 1-6

Yesterday my research group had our annual Christmas lunch, courtesy of my supervisor. Since I was pretty much loaded by 3pm, I decided to take the afternoon off, blow my hard earned cash on the extended edition Return of the King DVD, and work on mom's scarf while watching it. Holey moley, what a movie. I love what they added; it seems like a totally different film now, and just might usurp The Two Towers as my favorite. The new footage of the Eowyn / Faramir thing was really good, I thought. I totally have a crush on Faramir now. Lisa, aren't you a bit old to get movie character crushes? -- No.

With the extended scenes, the thing is now almost 5 hours long, which means I got significant work done on the scarf:

I really like how the yarn changes colors in that stitch pattern. However, what you see there is nearly one skein of Manos, and I only bought two, and I intended the scarf to be much longer than that. So I'll need to take another trip to Romni, which means more financial guilt.... sigh.
