vacation!

a dispatch from Chicago, at last:

So I've been in Chicago all week, and i just decided to change my flight back and stay till Saturday, and not Tuesday. Why? Because being home is warm and fuzzy, and my cubicle is ...not. As soon as my plane landed in Chi-town last Wednesday, I realized that I forgot my camera at home. So no pictures of the turkey feast, the living room acrobatics (don't ask... we wrestle.), or the mad progress I've made on my knitting projects (at the expense of my work, but hey, it's a holiday).

Chicago got its first big snow on Wednesday, which meant that I got stuck at O'Hare while my brother Toby got stuck at Midway, while Dad got stuck in traffic (not once, but thrice) in between the two airports. By the time we were all united at 1am, I had finished most of my first sock. Blue striped socks! The whole thing is made more exciting by the fact that I bought a sweet pair of blue mary jane shoes (on sale!) yesterday, perfect for showing off blue striped handmade socks. Hooha!

I also got the sweetest frickin' deal ever (it was half off the sale price!) at the Anthropologie store at our local mall. Ohmygosh, if ever there was a store that sold stuff that's my style (or rather, what my style would be if I had a lot of money), this is it. Hachi machi! This is totally my kind of bling . And though I can't afford most of their stuff, I can make at least some of it myself.

Speaking of which, my dad brought me back the new Rebecca last time he went to Germany. Ohhh....so much I want to make!
