so long, suckers

(I gotta skip town for a hot minute)

Yeah, so I'm going to Pittsburgh this weekend for the craziness that is PittStop . Have I packed? No. Did I buy my gift for my hosts? No. Do I know where and when I'm meeting my roadtrip buddies? No.

I keep telling people that I'm excited because I finally know how to dance Balboa, and how Bal is like Lindy except straighter and kinda cooler and not the same dance at all, and they're like, "wha?", so...here's a link to a video of this phat dance.

I was all going to make sure that all my schoolwork and all my knitting was in order before I left town. I succeeded in one of these two, and I think we all know which one. Of course now I keep telling myself that I will have plenty of time to work in Pittsburgh, which is really just a laugh since last year I slept about 8 hours total the whole weekend.

In any case, I cast on, finally, for the orange turtleneck shrug:

I gotta stop knitting when I'm sleepy, though, because last night I cast on and worked like 5 rounds in stockinette, and then remembered that it's a 3x3 rib. D'oh! I get seriously loopy when I'm sleep deprived, and I pity the two fools who had to suffer through phone conversations with me last night.

Anyways, so casting on the shrug means that my convertible mittens are finally done:

They're very soft and wonderful, and i love that blue. I still need to get quirky buttons to attach the pop tops to the wristwarmers, though.

On Tuesday three of us physics girls had an impromptu SnB at the Bubble Tea place on College St., and I made lots of progress on my brown rib cardigan:

This picture doesn't quite do justice to how neat the ribs look in that yarn. It's Arucania Nature Wool.
You can see a corner of the latest Runner's World on that picture. It's been sitting there like that all week, making me feel guilty. My 3 mile runs on the treadmill feel good, but it's just not the same as the bigass runs I was able to do in the summer, by the seashore.

Lastly, I'm having issues about leaving the white tiger alone for two days, even though Rebekah's gonna pop in and check on him while I'm gone. I hope he doesn't get too bored, though I guess he wont since he seems to find a new thing to climb on with every centimeter that he grows. His latest conquest:

...the bathroom sink. Apparently this cat doesn't mind getting wet at all. When I kick him out because I need to brush my teeth, he's all like, "what, you again?" I think it's odd that he doesn't get red-eye in pictures, but...green-eye. I think that can only mean on thing... I have an evil cat.
