i love yarn so much!
I have a paper on my summer research due
in a few days, which is why I spent the evening knitting.
Last night I went over to Rebekah's to watch CSI
and knit and (wee!) check out the new yarn winder. Ohhh, I want one so bad.
Here's
three yarns waiting to be started.
Front:
Celestial Merino Aquarius. This is going to become the convertible
mittens
from the KnitWit
Book.Right:
Gems Opal sport weight merino. I want this to be
the turtleneck
shrug from the interweave knits scarf book,
but then I need two more hanks of the same color. And since I picked this up on
a whim in Boston, that's kind of a problem. I really gotta stop picking up
random yarns like that!
Back:
awful-to-wind latvian mystery yarn. I have no idea what it's weight is and what
the gauge is or anything; all I can read on the label is what appears to be the
latvian word for yarn. In any case, this guy and his 7 brothers will become a
short sleeve sweater
from the Vintage Knits
book. For some reason I put off
starting projects forever, usually until Rebekah intervenes and tells me to just
cast it on already, despite the fact that I haven't finished anything else yet,
and despite the fact that I'm unsure about my ability, and all that. It's good
to have your enabler living across the street, and it's even better when she is
a hurts-so-good knitter, willing to jump into any project, so long as it's not
bland, and it rocks when she is well-stocked in knitting books and things like
winders, and it doesn't hurt when she also has cable.
Anyways, so with that encouragement, I
cast on the mitten.My 4mm double-pointed
needles piss me off, so I decided to teach myself magic loop using my 3.5mm
Turbos. Check it
out: That
took me a good 40 minutes. Oh well...mittens! I'm
excited.In other news, I've spent a
lot of time in the last 2 days shaking my vampire cat off my foot. What the
hell is wrong with this cat? He can be so nice and sweet, but then sometimes he
likes to just sink his teeth into me. Is this his way of kissing me, or is he
planning an overthrow? Pffft....boys.
He can be so sweet, and he can be such a
devil.. This morning he actually drew blood, which caused me to trip and step
on his foot, which just made him grab on tighter, which made me kick so hard
that he took a little flight. Ohhh, that was our worst fight yet. I told him
to come back when he's ready to be nice. He crawled under the couch and looked
at me like I was the meanest mommy in the world, then curled up to sleep on my
Marsupial bag, looking cute and sad. Sigh.
My cat wounds get itchy and bumpy, not
unlike mosquito bites. Hm, that can't be good.
