PROGRAM (in .pdf version); July 14, 2009 The Stratospheric Processes and their Role in Climate (SPARC) Data Assimilation Working Group (DAWG) holds an annual workshop which brings data assimilators and users of assimilation products together with experts in modelling, measurements and process studies. The goals of the workshop are to (1) present work on and encourage discussion of upper tropospheric, stratospheric and mesospheric assimilation of chemical and dynamical variables, (2) identify issues that can be addressed by the working group, and (3) review progress and propose new directions for collaborative work. Recent workshops have been held in Banff, Canada on 12-16 September 2005, in Noordwijk, the Netherlands on 18-22 Sept. 2006 and in Toronto, Canada on 4-7 Sept. 2007. In 2008, working group participants are encouraged to attend the SPARC General Assembly in Bologna, Italy on 31 Aug - 5 Sept. 2008. In 2009, the STRATOSPHERIC PROCESSES AND THEIR ROLE IN CLIMATE (SPARC) Data Assimilation Working Group (DAWG) meeting will be held in conjunction with the IAMAS meeting (www.moca-09.org) during 19-29 July 2009 in Montreal, Canada. Thus, instead of a stand alone workshop, we will have 3 components. Participants will be expected to attend the SPARC-DA related sessions for J21, M01 and a half-day meeting including discussions. 1) J21: Advances in data assimilation for Earth System Science (SPARC subsession on Friday July 24 pm) SPARC-DA participants should be registered with the MOCA-09 conference. The program is now available here. See also message from Richard Swinbank |
