Date: Tue, 20 Aug 2002 20:49:35 -0400 From: Kimberly Strong To: MANTRA email list Subject: MANTRA 2002 - Tuesday, August 20 Status MANTRA 2002 - Tuesday, August 20 Status Greetings from Vanscoy, These status reports are now being posted on the MANTRA home page at http://www.atmosp.physics.utoronto.ca/MANTRA/status_reports_2002.html and the Odin, ENVISAT, and SAGE III teams have been informed. The MANTRA 2002 logo is also online at http://www.atmosp.physics.utoronto.ca/MANTRA/mantra_2002.html Pointing System - mechanical and electrical integration with gondola complete - working in sun-pointing mode using reaction wheel - need to do integration/test with SPS-B1, MAESTRO-B, and MSC FTS - working on software to integrate reaction wheel, add modes including momentum dump, and set up automation of measurements MSC SunPhotoSpectrometers (SPS-B1, SPS-B2) - mechanical and electrical integration complete - absolute and wavelength calibration began today, continuing tomorrow - working on covers and insulation for power supplies MAESTRO-B - mechanical and electrical integration complete - two detectors working - still investigating noise, but getting signal - need to make lid and insulate, and possibly do calibration U of Denver FTS - mechanical and electrical integration complete - resolved new problem with drive, laser successfully realigned - needs alignment, then solar measurements to test detector alignment and set gains MSC FTS - electrical integration completed today, some mechanical work to do - third contact closure added to enable turning off FTS during downlink - working on software for 19200 kbaud line and downlink checking - need to do alignment, solar scan and set gains, and integrate with pointing system MSC OH Spectrometer - mechanical and electrical integration complete - laser alignment done - working on alignment and focussing MSC Emission Radiometers - mechanical and electrical integration complete - need to make covers for viewports, check preflight LN2 fill Service d'Aeronomie SAOZ - decided to mount SAOZ on the main gondola to avoid hitting ground on launch if mounted on flight train - therefore now have downlink telemetry, using last MUX channel - did mechanical and electrical integration (only telemetry needed) - ready to fly U of T On-board Datalogger - arrived from Toronto today - SIL integrating with CIP Ozonesondes - fourth launch this morning, reached ~6 mbar Ground-based MSC Brewer - continuing direct sun measurements Ground-based York U AOTF spectromter - new power supply installed yesterday, housing completed - began zenith-sky measurements at sunset yesterday - working on automation software Ground-based U of T zenith-sky spectrometer - continuing zenith-sky measurements Ground-based MSC SPS-G - started direct sun measurements today Overall schedule: Tuesday August 20 - electrical integration complete (some mechanical to finish) Weds. August 21 - mount all instruments on gondola, do mechanical check, balancing Weds. August 21 - test SPS-B1, MAESTRO-B, MSC FTS with pointing system Weds. August 21 - possibly do RFI test (probably on August 22) Thursday August 22 - instrument alignment/calibrations with sun Thursday August 22 - dry run (9 PM to 1 AM) Friday August 23 - hanging test with crane Saturday August 24 - flight ready All for now.
