Knittin shitty

yeah, my misadventures in knitting.

I spent ass-long working on those feather socks, fighting a lot with a good, but (in my opinion) badly-written pattern, only to realize that the sizing given yields socks for teeny tiny princess feet (and I actually have pretty delicate feet for my height/weight, so this time my wine/chocolate consumption is not to blame). I know, I should take gauge seriously, and all that.

Worse, it took me so long to accept this fact in my heart, that I had already turned the heel and done the foot decreases by the time I admitted to myself that these socks were no good. After I waited till I was tipsy enough not to care, I ripped them out. My Aunt Marlies actually let out a small scream when I did it.

In more of a knitting success, I finished one ball's worth (teehee. that sounds punny.) of my Noro scarf. To quote the German teenagers: Das ist ja Fett.

...but of course it's way too short to be a cool scarf, so I need to get 2 more balls of silk garden, which would make it another expensive-ass scarf. It will be wicked cool nonetheless.

I never made it to the local Frohnhausen yarn store, but I did pick up the new Rebecca at the airport

I felt like such an international badass being able to buy it cheap in Germany. It wasn't till after I purchased it, though, that I realized that

(a) I got the (embarrassingly cheesy) english version, and
(b) I paid nearly twice the regular price for this version.

Crappity crap! On the other hand, there are nice patterns in there, and the cheesy German-ness of it is really entertaining, especially the pictures of girls holding hands, and, like, frolicking, or whatever.

Anyhoo.

When I got home I unpacked my wine and, having just gotten the fabulous new Interweave for summer, got all inspired to do a little strickarbeit. I decided to work a bit the red scarf, first because it's been languishing forever, and second because it's idiot-knitting and I was sleep deprived and drinking. 3 rows later, I had this:

Well ...Crappy McShit. I really like those funky needles made out of that crazy milk protein stuff, but I break them like nobody's business, because that shit is brittle. Those white needles were so pretty and slick, ...and yet so ass. I think from now on i need to just by cheap Lewiscraft aluminum needles.

Since my brain is in a timezone where it's almost 5am, I think it's time I went to bed.
