7.5 Data Output
7.5.1 Data Streams
The EOS program recognizes two data streams from the instrument: science and
housekeeping.
The science data comprise all data from MOPITT. This may be split into housekeeping and
science for convenience, but all data must be available for science use in the processing.
It will be necessary to time tag the MOPITT data packets.
7.5.2 Radiometric Data
Radiometric data has been discussed in Section 7.2.
7.5.3 Housekeeping
Housekeeping data consists of ancillary data for determining the instrument condition.
7.5.3.1 Temperatures
Temperatures of all major components will be recorded. These will include as a
minimum:
- Major optical components
- All mechanisms and their motors
- The optical tables (several monitors)
- Electronics modules (special emphasis on heat-dissipating areas)
- Correlation cells
- Calibration bodies
- Molecular sieves
- Detectors and detector mounts
- SSC compressors and displacers
- Case temperatures
7.5.3.2 Rates and Positions
Positions of intermittently moving parts (eg scan mirrors) shall be telemetered at a sufficient
rate to determine where the component is located at any time. As a minimum this shall be
every 29-view scan.
Rates of rotation of all continuously moving parts shall be telemetered at a sufficient rate to
determine the rotation rate at any time. As a minimum this shall be every 29-view scan.
7.5.3.3 Voltages
Voltages of all power supplies and significant bias points shall be monitored. In addition
it is expected that a number of test points will be monitored within the system.
7.5.3.4 Currents
Currents of all power supplies and major subsystems shall be monitored.
